Junior Skip Off

For the past nine weeks we have been learning different ways to skip.
Today we shared what we have learnt with the school and whanau.

Today's session was all about under arm throwing.
We had to try to knock over a target.
It is important to aim before throwing.

Get Set Go

We continued with balancing today.
To balance you need to use your eyes, use your arms like a plane and keep your head still.
Next we played pirates. If you get your leg cut you have get a high five to be released.

This is our first session of Get Set Go.
Our warm up game was responding to words like fire, earthquake,  tsunami and volcano.
We needed to respond in the correct way.
Then on to different ways to balance.
We can practice these skills before next week.

Hip hop off

At the end of the hip hop lessons we had a school hip hop off.
It was great to see the progression from room 1 to room 12.
Hip hop is a great way to exercise.

Hip hop, week 2

Today was our second hip hop lesson with Jess.
First we have to stretch so that we do not hurt our bodies.
Part of our dance is dabbing.
It is important to follow the instructions.

Learning to swim.

For the past 6 weeks we have been learning about water safety and how to swim.
We all learnt new skills and now we need to keep on practicing by going to the pools with our families.

Today at school assembly certificates were given out from last week's cross country.
Well done to the year 1 and 2 learners who came first, second and third.

Our skipping skills

Thank you to the parents who came to watch us skipping,  we are very proud of what we can do.

Today we had our school skipping demonstration and skip off.
Well done to the children from rooms 1 and 4 who were in the junior skip off.
Ulakai kept going the longest from our rooms.
Everyone is Better than Before at skipping.

Taekwondo, week 9

Today was our final session of taekwondo.
We all had a turn at trying to break the board.
It was important to use the flat of our foot.
We said thank you with a card we had all signed.

Each week we stretch to warm up before we begin our lesson.
Today we had to kick both pads with the bottom of our foot.
It takes time to aim and then do a strong kick.

Taekwondo, week 5

After warm up we continued to practice our kicks.
It is important to listen carefully to how to complete the kick correctly.
