School rubbish hunt

We went for a walk around our school. We were surprised at how much rubbish we found.
Even though there are rubbish bins some people do not bother to use them correctly.

Little Red Riding Hood

Gosh Little Red Riding Hood was lucky that the wood cutter saved her.
Always listen to what you are told to keep safe.

Eating eggs

Now it was time to taste the cooked egg. Yum!
Eggs are are great food to eat.
We also could write about what we saw and did.

How the egg changes

Watch how the white of the egg changes from clear to white when it is cooking.

Cooking eggs

We used gardening equipment carefully.
While pruning our kowhai tree we noticed a pest!
Caterpillars have been eating the leaves!
What can we do? Is there anything we can remember from our pest inquiry?

Tasting coconut water

Monica's mum kindly sent some coconut water for us to try.
It was clear and smelt like coconut.
Some of us had never tried it before.
We found out that 4 children did not like it BUT 8 children did.
How do they collect the water? Does your family drink it?

Stick spiders

Now that we have learning about spiders we are able to create our own.
Did you know that spiders have 8 legs and 8 eyes?
Some spiders are pests as they are poisonous.
BUT many people like them because they are a natural way to control other pests.
