Eating spaghetti

We had a poem about floppy spaghetti so we decided to try it.
Gosh it was sloppy but we enjoyed it.

Every week different students get certificates for their participation in our sessions. Well done!

Film Festival

What a wonderful time we had watching not only our movies but also lots of movies from other schools. They were all very good and told us a message. Well done to everyone from the learners in Room 1.

Learning about the letter J

This week we have been learning about the letter j.
We know how to write it, what sound it makes and words beginning with it.
So we made blue jelly, it was yummy.
We also juggled balls like a juggler. Look at our 2  experts.

Changes All Around Us

Rooms 1 and 4 made a movie together about our learning on ‘Changes All Around Us'.

Around our school there are many changes. Change is part of life and we see it every day. Watch all the changes in our movie.

School mural

We had an unveiling of our mural that we had all contributed to.
A special thanks to Mrs Hoeberigs and Mrs Honare for all the work they put into this wonderful mural.

Great workers

At our Junior Assembly we congratulated Mila-Rose and Dilan's for their work in room 1.

Niue language week

The whole school shared what we have been learning about Niue culture and language.
Room 1 explained that the yellow is for the sunshine,  the Union Jack is like in the New Zealand flag, the 4 little stars are the Southern Cross, and the big star in the blue circle is the island in the water.

Bees

Mrs Pedersen brought a dead bumble bee to school so we have been talking and writing about bees.
Today we looked at some honey comb and then tasted the sweet, sticky honey.
Not everyone enjoyed tasting it.
Honey is very good for you and we need to take care of the bees.

Shake Out Day 2019

We have been practicing what to do if there is an earthquake during the year.
Today all over New Zealand people showed what you need to do to keep safe during an earthquake.

We were like turtles under the tables.
You can practice with your family at home.

Science experiments

How do you make butter?
We discovered how to make butter with cream and salt.
After shaking the jar for a while it turned into whipped cream.
Then we kept shaking and finally it was butter.
This was how people made butter before you could buy it in the shops.

Kiwi Can, term 4

R E S P E C T is the theme for Kiwi Can.
It is important to know that you are very special.
We looked in a secret box and saw something special........ us!

Tongan Language Week

As part of our learning about Tonga, we made Tongan flags.
We shared our knowledge at the celebration assembly.
Did you know that the cross is because Tonga is a Christian country and the red  represents the blood of Christ?

Wetas

Mr Reid found a dead weta and we have been learning about them.
From all the information that we learnt we have made a mistake footprint sentence.

Science experiments, week7

Today we tested out some magnets and what they do to each other.
It was strange as one way they stuck together and when we turned them over they pushed away from each other .

Hip hop, week 7

This week was our last session.
We put the 2 dances together to make a whole dance.
As a thank you to Caitlin we gave her a card we made.
We can perform the dance at assembly.

Skipping for fitness

Each morning we are skipping for fitness.
It is a great way to to keep your whole body healthy.
Soon we will have our skipping demonstration.

Changes in trees

We are looking at trees. Before we can see how they change, we needed to know the parts of a tree. Can you name each part of the tree that we are pointing to? The clue is trunk, roots or branch.

Hip hop, week 5

Wow, we are becoming very confident with the different moves for our dance.
We follow the instructions and listen to the music.
You could make up a dance to your favourite song.
