How very strange!
We noticed a butterfly around our swan plant a few weeks ago.
Now look! There are two very hungry caterpillars who are quite big.
It is very unusual to see caterpillars at this time of the year when it is nearly winter.
We hope that they can turn into a chrysalis and then butterflies.

O is for oats
Today we made porridge with oats because we are learning about the letter o.
Once we had read the instructions we could put the oats and milk in the bowl.
We had to cook the oats and milk for 90 seconds.
The porridge was warm and yummy.
Maybe your family could make porridge for breakfast. It fills up your tummy ready to learn at school.

We used different equipment to make and create vehicles.
It was important to remember to put on the seat belt when we got in the car.
Working together helped us to explore more.
Kite flying
Today it was windy enough to fly a kite.
It took a lot of skill to launch it into the air.
Nikaiyah thought that the tail looked like a snake.
We are learning a poem about a kite.
Little red kite
up in the sky,
Little red kite
flying so high.

Crossing the road
Constable Teina helped us to practice using a road.
Stop at the kerb, look right, look left, listen.
If is safe to cross, walk across checking right and left.
Sneaky driveways
When you walk along the footpath keep next to the houses.
If you cannot see check before walking past a driveway.
Using the pedestrian crossing
Constable Teina explained how to use the pedestrian crossing.
A lot of traffic went by on the road.
Remember for the road patrol to say 'Cross now' before you walk across.

Another fire on Mount Wellington!
Ong Monout noticed a fire on Mount Wellington at morning tea.
The fire had been caused by children lighting fire works.
This is very dangerous and has caused a lot of damage.
We are always learning about being safe.
ANZAC service, 2018
On the last day of term 1, our school had a service to remember those who went to war to make our country a safe place to live in.
We shared poems, stories and sang songs.
It is important to show respect.
