Room one's pirates

Look at the pirates on the bus back to school!
I wonder what they say?
How do you know a pirate when you see one?

Pump House Theatre

How exciting for about 80 of us to travel in a bus, on the motorway,  through the tunnel,  over the harbour bridge, past the city to Takapuna.
We were very lucky to have been given free tickets and free buses to see a show.
The play was The Man Whose  Mother was a Pirate by Margaret Mahy.
Is your mother a pirate?
Tell your family about the show.

Science experiments

Who is the best at making paper planes?
We all had a piece of paper to fold.
Some planes flew better than others.
Mele was our expert and showed us all how to make a plane like hers.
Can you design an even better paper plane?

Duffy Role Model Assembly

Sam Verlinden was our role model.
He shared how reading has  helped him to write songs.
We played clapping games too.

Fitness

This week we are playing relay games with tennis balls.
It is important to look at the ball so that you can catch it.

New lunch boxes

Wow, what a surprise to find a huge box in our classroom!
What is in it? Lego? Puzzles? Books? Play dough?
When we looked inside we saw lots of lunch boxes!
A very BIG thank you to Sistema Plastics for donating new lunch boxes for the new entrants in room 1!
We can pack a healthy lunch and water for school.

Science experiment

Just which piece of paper will land first?
We needed to predict which piece would hit the ground first.
It was important for Lillyan to let both pieces go at the same time.
You could try this at home with different shapes of paper.

Speaking feet.

We have been talking about living in New Zealand and wrote a sentence about this.
When we walk on the feet we say the word. This helps us to remember the sentence.

Week 9 achievers

We are very proud of the hard workers in room 1 this week.
We enjoyed listening to Dilan's Duffy book before he took it home.
