How to get rid of pests.

Thank you to Ocean and Fabian from room 7 for bringing this from home.
In Samoan it is called a salu and in Tongan a taufale.
Lolo was trying to kill a pretend fly to show us how to use it.
How else could we get rid of flies?

At the end of the day we let the preying mantis go back to it's natural environment.

Look what was trying to get into our school this morning when Mrs Pedersen came to school.
We looked at the preying mantis and saw it is an insect.
They love to eat other bugs. Monica wrote a story about the preying mantis.

We enjoy reading books from our book boxes

Our book boxes have books that we have taken home.
By rereading we can learn to read the words correctly.
We are learning how to be Better Than Before in reading.

Book handling

When we were in the library we learnt how to turn the pages of the book like butterfly wings.
Remember to always treat books carefully,  they are special treasures.
We are a Duffy school and are very lucky to get books to keep at home.

We all enjoyed the different activities that we participated in at tabloids.

Wow look what has happened!
In a couple of days a lot of the leaves have been eaten and the caterpillars are getting fatter.
We had to look for secret places where the chrysalis are.

Monarch Butterflies

We have been learning about monarch butterflies.
There are many fat caterpillars munching on the swan plants.
Look how one is hanging upside down ready to change into a chrysalis.

Patrick received this book for being a great learner.
He has only been at school for 2 weeks but he already is showing how he loves reading.

Swimming

This week we have begun our swimming lessons.
We are learning about water safety,  being confident in the water,  floating and freestyle.
We are very lucky to be able to swim everyday and know that we will learn many skills.
