Dog safety

We all like dogs but there are rules to be safe.
Laura brought her two dogs so that we could learn the rules.
Always ask the owner if you can pat their dog.
If you can pat on the back or side.
If you are trying to keep safe from a dangerous dog, then be a tree.
Dogs need food,  water, shelter and love.

Science experiment-floating

Today we began our science experiments.
We wanted to know which shape would float.
Using modelling clay we tried many shapes-square, flat, ball, spiral,  long.
Finally Tatianna made a shape that floated.
What do you think it looks like?
Try making some other shapes.

Duffy Books

Sione was lucky to get a Duffy book at assembly.  He really notices words when he reads and as he reads.

Principal's award, week 7 term 1

Here are the two amazing workers in room 1 who got principal awards this assembly.
We can see that Tatianna and Mele are very proud of their achievements. Keep up the great work.

The redevelopment around our school

Today we went for a walk near our school.  Before we got there we we heard noises.
Wow, so many houses have gone! There were bulldozers pushing dirt; diggers digging holes; trucks emptying gravel; and bulldozers filling the trucks. We noticed all the workers were wearing safety gear.
Have you noticed how the community is changing?
Maybe you or your neighbours have had to move.

Ripper Rugby

Sinclair came from Varsity Rugby and taught us lots of skills.
We know how to pass, score a try, run, and dodge people.
The game was fun and we used our new skills.
Maybe you could play with your family or friends at home.

Our swan plant

Today we worked together to plant a swan plant.
After finding a place in the garden Lillyan dug a hole.
Losaline said we had to take it out of the pot.
Next Letaya watered the plant to help it grow.
Now we hope that some monarch butterflies lay thein eggs on the plant.
We will keep watching.
